Early Career and Competitive Success

Mark began his judo journey in the UK, quickly rising through the ranks to become a formidable competitor. His passion and skill earned him the title of British Judo Champion, a testament to his technical expertise and strategic acumen on the tatami. Mark’s competitive career laid the foundation for his future endeavors as a coach, giving him firsthand experience of the challenges and triumphs athletes face.


Founding the Camberley Judo Club

In the early stages of his coaching career, Mark founded the now world-renowned Camberley Judo Club in the UK. Under his leadership, the club became a hub for developing elite athletes, attracting judoka from around the globe. The Camberley Judo Club’s reputation for excellence is a direct reflection of Mark’s vision and commitment to fostering talent.


Coaching on the Global Stage

Mark’s coaching career reached new heights when he became a Senior Men’s Team Olympic Coach for Team GB. Over the course of three Olympic Games – Atlanta, Sydney, and Barcelona – he worked alongside legendary coaches like Neil Adams, contributing to Team GB’s success on the world stage. Mark’s ability to mentor athletes at the highest level solidified his reputation as a world-class coach.

Throughout his career, Mark has been a personal coach to multiple European, World, and Olympic medallists. Athletes such as John Buchanan, Karina Bryant, Ian Freeman, Danny Kingston and and Sanne Verhagen among countless others have thrived under his guidance, achieving remarkable success in international competitions.
