Building Opportunities to Excel

PROJECT 2032 - Supporting the Next Generation of Irish International Judoka

Project 2032 is an ambitious long-term initiative to help Ireland produce more international, European, World and Olympic level judoka.

We believe Ireland has the talent to compete with the best nations in the world. What is often missing is access to opportunities, high-quality training environments, international experience and sustained support throughout an athlete's development journey.

Project 2032 aims to help bridge that gap.

Our goal is not simply to produce better club players. Our goal is to help develop athletes capable of competing successfully on the international stage and contributing to future Irish teams at European Championships, World Championships and Olympic Games.

We recognise that this is ambitious.

We also recognise that meaningful success in sport is rarely achieved without ambition.

By bringing together athletes, coaches, clubs, supporters and partners who share that vision, we hope to create an environment where talented athletes can pursue excellence and maximise their potential.

Our Philosophy

Success should not be limited by geography.

Opportunity should not be restricted by club boundaries.

Talent should not be held back by a lack of access to coaching, training partners, competition opportunities or financial support.

We believe ambitious athletes deserve ambitious opportunities.

Project 2032 exists to provide those opportunities.

Our objective is simple: identify committed athletes, support their development and help them pursue their dream of representing Ireland at the highest levels of international judo.

This is an ambitious project.

The name itself reflects that ambition.

Project 2032 represents a long-term commitment to athlete development and a belief that Ireland can produce more athletes capable of succeeding on the international stage.

We do not claim to have all the answers. We do believe that by working together, sharing expertise and putting athletes first, we can make a meaningful contribution to the future of Irish Judo.

What is Project 32?

Project 32 is an independent athlete development and performance support programme designed to help ambitious judoka pursue their goal of representing Ireland in international competition.

While operated by Senshin Sports, Project X sits independently from the organisation's club structure and is open to athletes from any club.

The programme has been established to provide additional support for athletes pursuing higher levels of performance through coaching, education, competition opportunities, athlete mentoring, performance services and funding assistance.

Project 32 recognises that success at the highest levels of sport requires far more than simply attending training sessions. Athletes must develop technically, physically, mentally and personally while gaining valuable competitive experience and learning how to perform consistently under pressure.

The programme exists to help athletes access the support, opportunities and experiences required to maximise their potential and pursue excellence in judo.

Our Vision

To help develop the next generation of Irish international, European, World and Olympic judoka.

Our Mission

To provide an independent performance programme that complements the Irish Judo Association's National Programme by supporting athletes through coaching, training, education, competition opportunities, performance services and funding assistance.

Key Principle

Project 2032 is not a replacement for club, provincial or national programmes.

Instead, it provides additional support to help athletes meet the demands of high-performance development and maximise the opportunities available to them through the Irish performance pathway.

A Complete Performance Programme

Project 32 is more than a funding initiative. It is a long-term performance development programme supporting athletes across every aspect of their development.

  • Athlete mentoring
  • Progress reviews
  • Development planning
  • Coach and parent engagement

  • Performance coaching
  • Competition preparation
  • Individual athlete planning

Supporting the National Pathway

Project 2032 fully supports the Irish Judo Association's National Programme.

The programme is designed to complement the national pathway by helping athletes develop the skills, habits, experience and support network required to maximise the opportunities available to them through provincial, national and international competition.

Our objective is not to create an alternative pathway. Our objective is to help athletes succeed within the existing pathway.

By supporting athletes outside of national squad activities, Project X aims to strengthen the wider performance environment and help more athletes realise their potential.

Independent of Club Structures

Project 32 is not a judo club.

It is not a replacement for an athlete's home club, provincial squad or the Irish Judo Association's National Programme.

Athletes remain members of their own clubs and continue to train and compete through their existing pathways.

Project 2032 exists to provide an additional layer of support that helps athletes meet the demands of high-performance sport.

Our philosophy is simple:

The athlete comes first.

The programme is designed to work collaboratively with clubs, coaches, parents, sponsors and the wider judo community to create opportunities that benefit athletes regardless of where they call home.
